My Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Two Pairs of Shades

This is a true story.  I kid you not.

I haven't even changed the names to protect the reputation of your humble blogger.

This morning, I dropped Caroline off at school and headed to the Mt. Vernon Trail to run.  I should back up and say that before we left the house, I had my sunglasses on my desk and gave myself a mental note to get them before leaving.  So anyway, as I was driving along, with the sun shining in my face, I silently cursed myself for forgetting my sunglasses.

But then, as I stopped at a red light, I said to myself, 'Oh hey, wait a minute, I have my back up sunglasses in the glove compartment.'

Ever so proud of my preparedness, I leaned over, got the back up pair from the glove compartment and tried to put them on.

Except, I couldn't.

I was actually having trouble putting on sunglasses.  Now, I certainly don't consider myself a genius or a person of many talents, but I can most certainly  put sunglasses on my face in an effective manner.

And then it occurred to me why I was having so much trouble with such a perfunctory task.

I was having trouble because I already had my other sunglasses on!

You have no idea how much I wish this were a fabricated story.  But, alas, it is not.  It's the truth.

The honest to goodness, Alison-is-a-total-space-cadet-and-it's-a-wonder-she's-managed-to-keep-herself-or-her-child-alive-for-this-long,  truth.

TGIF!

This makes me laugh! Oh. SO. Funny!

The other night, Charlie starts freaking out because he looks down at his hand and doesn't see his ring. We start running around the house looking for it. Finally, I asked him, "what is that on your hand?" He'd been looking at his right hand, not his left one. He had it on the whole time! Then he asks, "Have I always worn it on that hand?" LOL!
