I stand corrected.
I thought sitting through Gnomeo and Juliet was going to be akin to torture; thankfully I was wrong. The movie was actually quite entertaining. I really liked the fact that it was set to Elton John music. 'Saturday, saturday, saturday, saturday.....' Those are the only words I know.
Ack, I think I just lost another 27 cool points.
I tend to find myself wholly uninterested in most kid movies, especially those in the animated genre, and am always happy and surprised when I like a movie Caroline and I see together. Especially since movies are crazy expensive and I tend to not enjoy wasting $9 on 90 minutes of animated torture. Normally, taking Caroline to the movies is Craig's job; obviously, and because of a situation completely beyond his control, he's been shirking his parental duty lately. I've graciously (usually) stepped in to be Caroline's movie date. We're an odd pair, and Caroline never opens the door for me, nor does she ever pay, but we generally have a good time.
Actually, Caroline doesn't care who brings her as long as she can go. Although, I do not buy movie popcorn, because it's a box of heart attack (and kind of gross) so I'm sure I lose a few points in the fun movie date category. However, I did take her to lunch before the movie and split my soup with her so she could dip her grilled cheese in it. If that's not sacrifice, I don't know what is.
Oh wait, I do. Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. Sitting through that movie is most definitely classified as parental sacrifice. I generally enjoy movies with talking dogs, but that one didn't hold my attention at all.
But Gnomeo and Juliet? Definitely enjoyable.
Well, as enjoyable as it can be when you pay $17 for 84 minutes of entertainment fun.

Dad and I love animated movies ala Gnomeo!
But we don't ever go to the movie theater because, heaven forbid you might have to go to the bathroom and miss 10 minutes!
P.S. Love the blog post title. U R a clever gurl.
I wrote all the drivel in that post just so I could use that title. :)
My students have been raving about Gnomeo! Glad you liked it. I go to the movies strictly for the cherry coke and nachos.
Marc and I are big fans of animated movies but we usually wait for those to come out on video when its a little cheaper (not much though). I'm sure Caroline enjoyed you as her date and that is all that matters in the end :) I think?
Jen and Marc take me to the movies occasionally but I fall asleep! If I wait for them to come out on DVD I can't sit still long enough to watch a movie - I will never be able to be a movie critic! Glad you enjoyed the show and you had the best date :)
