It's Not My Fault

When there are holes in the ceiling and walls, it's always nice to know that it's not your  fault.  Because once, when I was 15 or so, my foot fell through the attic floor.  Evidently my dad warned me to keep my feet on the rafters,  but as 15 year olds are inclined to do, I didn't listen.  Or, perhaps I didn't even hear him at all.

Who knows?

The good news is that the dripping water I encountered on Saturday night is no longer dripping.  The leak was found and everything is (mostly) back to normal.  And by mostly  back to normal, I mean that we still have gaping holes in our drywall, but we have running water.  Gaping dry wall holes I can deal with.  Dirty hair, I cannot.

The bad news is that they had to cut two holes in the basement ceiling

only to find out that the water issue needed to be fixed in the middle level powder room.

Now we have two holes downstairs and a few more in the bathroom, including one really big one in the ceiling.

The drywall man will be coming sometime soon.

It could have been a LOT worse.  And, on the bright side, we really do have a wonderful landlord.  He's a nice guy and also pretty handy.  Even better, I'm getting a new garbage disposal.  One that works!

I still have plenty of party pictures to post, but that will have to wait.  We're having life insurance health screenings in a few minutes.   How adult of us.   When did that happen?

Anyway, the medical guy is coming to our house to take our vitals, draw some blood and make us pee in a cup.

Being an adult is thrilling.

In the mean time, I shall share with you a sneak peak of my successful royal icing decorated sugar cookies.

This batch turned out so much better than my tragic Christmas stars.  I'm not 100% sold on the cookie recipe, but they're much tastier than the first attempt AND my handiwork with the piping bag really improved.

Okay, I'm off to drink some water before it's time to, well....you know.

:)

Thanks, Bexy.
At first, I wasn't thrilled with the cookie part; it seemed too crunchy, even though I rolled them thick and slightly underbaked. But, this evening, I sampled one of the leftovers and it seemed softer. I'm still looking for the perfect sugar cookie recipe.

This whole weekend has been one big purple frosting party. Between cupcakes and cookies, I've eaten a whole lot of purple butter/sugar. I need a detox!
